Have you had people and coincidences that came into your life suddenly or gradually or because a prayer was answered, or a wish granted?
There are no coincidences.
I've heard it said before, and still question it sometimes but this theory, or phrase or whatever you call it is confirmed by author Cheryl Richardson in her book The Unmistakable Touch of Grace: How to Recognize and Respond to the Spiritual Signposts in Your Life.
Every event we experience and every person we meet has been put in our path for a reason.
She starts with a list of Promises we'll find if we choose to awaken to grace in our lives:
- You are not alone
- You have a higher purpose for your life
- You have what it takes to face any life challenge
- You are a student in the school of life
- You have the peace and happiness you desire already within you.
Remember those? Huddled in a friend's bedroom after school with some other girlfriends to find out if the guy we liked, liked us. The Magic 8 ball always seemed to have the answer, and if it got dropped the inky black liquid would bubble under the plastic window and make the answer that much more mysterious and hard to read.
Maybe not the Magic 8 ball, but the fortune cookie was right.
It was more of an affirmation or mantra, and a reminder of what Cheryl Richardson promises with her book; that no matter what challenges were thrown into my life I would get through (by finding others that were going through the same experience.)Or, that the "peace" and "happiness" was already inside (I just had to let them "bubble" out and flow into my life and change my thoughts to become more positive.)
By letting go of the outcome I could let experiences teach me rather than being consumed with wishing and wanting. At the time in my life I came across it, both the fortune cookie and the book, I can honestly say that's when I needed it most.
And that's just one example of grace at work.
