Are You Surviving or Are You Thriving?

Recently I was interviewed for a very cool blog.
I first met Tanya Monteiro who filmed a documentary last year to search for thrivers. She began with the overall goal  to provide the world with real life human examples of thrivers and she sought the world to find these examples.

I was drawn her blog's title"Are You Surviving or Are You Thriving?" and something invited me to comment on one of her posts. She must have followed the link back to my blog. I received an email from this thriver a few days later, asking to be interviewed for her "Adversity to Thriving Mondays."

What I experienced during our phone conversation a few weeks ago was a very relaxed, casual interview and an instant connection. Tanya herself is a thriver and always searching for others that are, or at least willing to subscribe to her philosophy behind her blog or possibly her whole life.  And... it was pretty cool to be speaking so intimately with someone from LONDON! :)

"It became clear," she writes,  "whilst doing years and years of research that access, for me, to real life success stories was limited. Access to victims and any aspects of how terrible things can be, that was easy. I want to create something that focuses on the positive choices in life regardless of experience, education or even culture. My hope is that this documentary provides many many people with real examples that help them make the decisions they need to Thrive."

The Q&A...
I thought she would ask me questions about how my project came to be or what survivors will experience in the presentations I do with attorney and author Susan Omilian, like my unique "campfire storytelling technique" or why I do the songs I do.

Instead, I was interviewed not as founder and creator of The Purple Song Project but simply as a survivor, ahem.... thriver of Domestic Violence and the questions she asked were pointed. What does thriving mean to me and how do I deal with my bullies? Cool, huh?
