Branching Out: Boston, MA

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston

Vanessa with Mimi, (our new admin.) and Dolores.
On Friday we went up to do a presentation during the lunch meeting employees of Boston's  family Justice center and related facilities. The Family Justice Center is a "one-stop shopping"  for victims of Domestic Violence for on site counseling services, assistance with writing reports and restraining orders and other victim advocacy and even childcare for single mothers while they use the services offered.

Each center costs $5 million to build and an additional $6 million a year to operate, yet they have a low profile.

The first  family Justice center was founded San Diego and while we could use one in every major city, so far I think there are only about five in the country.

To learn a little more about the centers read this recent article here.
We put out books and all our fun thriver items and each attendee got a CD at the end.

We'll be back in Boston again. As  we had hoped for, our presentation was successful and we got a few more jobs out of it!

Is there someone in your life who is violent or controlling toward you? Have you been sexually assaulted, either by a stranger or by someone you know? Are you concerned that your child may have been abused?

If you need help, but don't know where to start, the Family Justice Center is here for you.
